Tootsie - R.I.P.

Meet Tootsie - December 2019

We have just picked up the cutest little 4 pounder from a shelter in Ontario. This girl was transferred to us after being picked up as a stray because she was very upset and stressed and was biting everyone at the shelter. But can you blamer her? The stressful environment of a shelter is no place for a tiny old lady.

We don’t know much about her other than the fact that shes old, very old, almost ancient, and has a mouth full of rotten teeth and major oral fistulas which must be very painful. But this little old gal has nothing to worry about. Her days of pain and neglect are over and we will make sure she will get everything she needs. We have named her Tootsie.

In the mean time, if you would like to help us help Tootsie, please click here.

Update - January 2020

Tootsie just had major dental surgery. She lost all her teeth, and had those massive oral fistulas repaired. She is home and nicely recovering from her procedure. What a brave girl!

We are also happy to report that since her arrival, Tootsie has calmed down and decompressed quite a bit. Of course she still has quite a bit of sass but it’s amazing how much happier and more comfortable she is. Surely losing all those rotten teeth has been helpful too, but we feel the real reason that she is now so much more relaxed and trusting is her bond with her foster brother Zero. Tootsie is madly in love with Zero and rarely ever leaves his side. And Zero is happy to provide the love, comfort, and reassurance she needs to feel at home.

Tootsie is going to stay with Zero and live out the rest of her days in our Forever Foster program.

Update - March 2023

Our sweet Granny Tootsie is still here. Shes even older and more ancient now, and she has lost most of her vision due to old age cataracts. But she is still going strong.

We noticed a very suspicious looking and fast growing lump near her right armpit last week and booked her for a vet visit immediately which led to an emergency lump removal surgery and biopsy. Thankfully the results came back and benign and we are now focused on helping our brace old lady recover from this surgery.

Update - April 2023

We’ve had a couple of scary syncope episodes with Tootsie in the last little while. Today she got to see a cardiologist for an echo cardiogram and a consultation. Even though she does seem to have a grade 3 heart murmur which may or may not explain the syncopes, at this time we are just going to monitor her symptoms and go back for further investigation if things get worse.

R.I.P - June 2023

We have sad news to share with Granny Tootsie’s fans and friends. Our sweet girl passed away on June 5 after a short but brave battle with kidney failure. Little Tootsie will be greatly missed. Words fail to describe how much we loved and cherished her. Run free sweet angel. Until we meet again.
