Meet Richard

Meet Richard - May 2023

We have just welcomed the cutest and sweetest little chihuahua boy into our rescue. Richard came from a bad situation. He has not seen a vet for a very long time, if ever, and that’s pretty evident from his horribly rotten teeth, among other things. He weighs about 3.5 pounds and underweight, and we think hes likely around 7-8 years old. He’s also cryptorchid.

Next stop: Vet office!

Richard has a long way to health ahead of him. He is going to need a vet exam and bloodwork, neuter, major dental surgery with lots of extractions, healthy nourishing and healing food and supplements, and a lot of love and patience to allows him to relax, trust, and come out of his shell. We would greatly appreciate it if you would consider making a donation towards Richard’s care.

Update - August 2023

Richard had his dental surgery and neuter. He has been healing nicely. Healthy food and healing supplements have helped him put some much needed weight on and feel better and healthier already.

Richard came to us as a very shy boy, terrified and confused. He has come a long way since his first night with us, has relaxed quite a bit, and has even managed to bond with our mini resident pack but he still has a long way to go in his emotional healing journey. We have decided to keep him as part of our Forever Foster program to avoid uprooting him again when he has finally started showing signs of progress. We also suspect that he may be having some IBD issues which will require more investigation and treatment.

Welcome to the Forever Foster program, little Richard. Can’t wait to see you living up to your potential, and thrive even more!

BUTTONNOSES Rescue relies on the generosity of donors to cover the cost of care required to keep dogs in our Forever Foster program comfortable during their remaining days. If you would like to sponsor little Richard and make a donation in support of his care please consider making a donation to our rescue.
